Blog Post #14 - Sleep and Dreams

Do you know this movie?
The movie focus on our dream. 

I think dream has a special meaning.
Fears, desires and emotions that we are usually unaware of make ourselves known through dreams.
Dreams based on wish for achivement.
Even "negative" dreams are a form of wish, but it being that certain events do not occur.
Very often such dreams are interpreted as a warning.
I believe that although our dreams contain these important messages dreams are encoded.
So if we can remember our dream, we cann't understand what dream means.

 

Have you ever heard "Dream reading more important Dream?"
It is not necessary to be aware of good dream or bad dream seriously.
I think we have to maintain our positive mind.

We can know three differrence with Korea and America

First,  American pointed at the someone with thier finger.
But, It's rude to point in Korea. Korean beckon with the hand.

Second, when Americann paid out money they used a hand.
In Korea, we used both hands becuase we think it is politer than used a hand

Third, when pour water into a cup, Korean used both hands the reosaon is same second reson

People used to geusture is ingrained in the psyche.
Although people used gesture, meaning is very different each country.
Different culture make different meaning in same gesture.

Throught this, we can know Korean emphasis manners.

All of people want te be happy.
Is money related with Happiness?
This question is subject of debate.
I agree with if we have lots of money, we would be more happier than now.
But, It is not right thought if we felt unhappiness when we are poor.
Money is just a way, not purpose.
Many people don't realize why we try to earn more money.

Have you ever heard about Happiness index?
According to a recent survey, Vanuatu ranked 1st in the happiness index of 182 countries.
Vanuatu is located in the South Pacific.
Vanuatu consist of 80 small islands. Almost island live without electricity.
Vanuatu is one of the poorest country but the happiest people live in there.

Happiness is relative thing.
Did you know this proverb?
"The bird of paradise alights only upon the hand that does not grasp"
Happiness is always with us.

Where Did Superstitions Come From?

Lack of knowledge and fear are the biggest reason in my thought 

I think superstition is something people are afraid of.
Because they couldn't explain something scientifically.
In other words, they didn't have engough knowledge to explain something.
For eaxample, there are many superstitions about yawning.
one superstitions say that yawning is a sign that danger is near,
other superstition says that a person must cover his or her mouth when yawning so that the soul does not escape through the mouth.

Today most people do not believe these superstitions because we know that a yawn is a just physical reaction.

What is your purpose in your life?
Money? Success? Power? Good parent?
Almost peaple is busy with something.
We have to do something.
We try to get higher TOEIC score, much money, longer life..
Many people just running without thoght why we have to run.

I have a question.

If you were to die tomorrow, what would you do?

Do you think is it important meaning?

Of course, this is important for better life.

But it is just a tool, not purpose.

If you want to get lots of money, you would have to work hard.

But we think is it all in your life?

I believe all people are born with mission in the world.

You are good and you are the most special person in this world because there is only one like you.

People have their own reason for existing.

The book I have read most recently was 'Hug' by Nick Vujicic.
Though he was born lacking arms and legs,
he did not think it was not his disadvantage and thought positively about himself.
Seeing him conveying hope throughout the world, I was deeply impressed.

Blog #8 - Mastering a New Language

It is necessery to learn another language.
Today my point isn't why should we learn language, but how to learn another language.
We have learnd english from school and teacher.
Should we have to go arcademy, if we want to another language?
I'm here to give you some ideas how to learn English without teacher.

You will need at least one English book, and I will give you some ideas about what books are good.
Buy books that have an answer key.
You must have a dictionary or electronic translator.
You need good study skills and I will be putting some of these here.
Have a friend who learns with you, or someone you can speak English to.

To learn English with no teacher, you will have to work hard.
Remember these three laws.
1. Make a time every day - even if it is only 30 minutes
2. Think while you are studying
3. Speak out loud, even if you are by yourself

I think my writing will help you, when you want to learn another language.

Blog #7 - Personal Space

Why do Koreans require less personal space than Americans?

I think that it’s just cultural differences, but not wrong.
As you know, America was built by rugged individualists who believed in freedom.
So they think rights of the individual are the most important rights in a free society.
But, there is a strong sense of community in Korea, stronger bonds in the community.

This topic related with emotional issue.
We prefer work together to work alone.
If we are alone, we could feel lonely.
In my case, I have a younger brother. We have slept together since we were born.
I don't think it is starange once in life.

Shortly, I think the main reason is cultural difference.

Today topic is to describe a place I have visited. So I want to intruduce my villa.
This villa was built by my father in Pocheon.
My father is detective. Although he didn't have enough time to build thie villa, he used to spend spare time in here. He used to say my hobby is house building.
I prepare some pictures for understanding easily.

So I really disappointed with this time is winter..

but I pick out the good ones from among a lot of things we can get..ex) good memory...
University educatoin teach not only specialized knowledge about our major but also manythings about social life.
When you were freshmen, have you ever heared this advice from senior?
personal connection is university life's everything.
In fact, we make our personal conncections for living society through university.
of course, you already have many friends when you met middle/high school.
but they don't help you if you had problem.
althogh very luckly your freinds have same major, he just stay with you. he can't lead you and make you growing up.
I think personal connection is result from university life. and it is as important as self-development

If you were Korean, you must know his name.

His name is Park ji-sung. There are many reasons why I respect him.

First, he is a best soccer player. He is a member of Machester United.

M.U is the most popular soccer team in the world.

When 2002 world cup, He made a goal while playing against Portugal, and became famous since then.

second, he is passinative and honest..

Although he is already good player of top level., He is modest by nature.

In the ground, he is a very passinative person more than other players.

His fans called him nameless hero.

third, he is very influential person.

Maybe teenagers want to be an excellent soccer player, and hope someday to grow up to be a superstar like Park Ji-sung.

For improvement of Korea soccer, Ji-Sung Football Center made by Park Ji-sung.

Also, he has a whole road named after him.

I belive he'll be better

My name is Gang sung-wook, english name is Ray.

What is your major? 
I will be graduated with computer science and engineering degree from Seoul National University of Technology.

What are your interests and hobbies? 
I love playing soccer. I'm a member of soccer club in department.
I like watching movie, playing the piano and reading a book.

Why are you studying English during the winter break? 
Although I have studied english since middle school, I don't speak english well.
I think my weak point is speaking skill, so I want to improve my speaking skill.
